Sadly, we have seen a shockingly high number of library materials being returned damaged or vandalized: underlined, highlighted, written in, water damaged, dog-chewed, etc…This is discouraging for those of us who are interested in maintaining and preserving our library resources for everyone. After trying out a friendly sign/ bookmark campaign to no avail, we are at the point where we need to start holding people accountable for damages sustained to library materials:
As of November 2011 - Fees will be regularly charged for items returned
vandalized or damaged.
are subject to the following repair or replacement fees: Damaged – Repair or Replacement Fees
*In some cases, you may be permitted to offer a new copy of a book or A/V material to replace one that was destroyed while in your possession. Please check with the Library Office to find out if this may be an option for your circumstance. Thank you for working with us on this! (published on 11/08/2011) |
Here are some of the features and improvements that our new catalog provides:
You will have to log in to renew or request books, or to access many of the advanced features.
You may log in at the upper-right corner of the page.
Your Library account Login is your first name and last name separated by a period (e.g. firstname.lastname). PLEASE NOTE: we are now using preferred name for students, so if you filled in the preferred name field in MyCIIS, please try using that name when logging in.
For students, your password for your Library account is the same as your password for MyCIIS. If you do not remember your MyCIIS password, please follow the link in the menu on the left to retrieve your password. If you are not a student, please contact the Library Circulation Desk at (415) 575-6180 or circ_at_ciis.edu and we will advise you of your password.
Please note that we update the data in our system the first Wednesday of the month, so if you have changed your MyCIIS password since that time, it may not have been changed yet in the Library. If you have recently changed your password, or you retrieved your password from MyCIIS and it does not work, please call the Library Circulation Desk.
Please take a look around and let us know what you think!
